CA POST CERTIFIED LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINING
ICI Gang Foundation Specialty Course
Course Description: This is an ICI foundation specialty course under POST's Robert Presley Institute of Criminal Investigations (ICI).  This 40-hour course will provide investigators with the information and skills to aid them in the successful investigating and prosecution of gang related crimes.  The course is designed for active, hands-on participation by the students.  Course work will include writing a curricula vitae, writing a search warrant, and building a gang prosecution case.

This course is modeled in adult based learning, therefore each block of instruction will include hands-on, active participation from the class, or small group collaboration.  We encourage each student to come ready to share their experiences, so we all can learn in the collaborative process.

Prerequisite: All students planning on attending this course must view the POST Training Network (CPTN) DVD “Gangs & Drugs: How Gangs Operate” and answer a two page worksheet, prior to the first day of class. The DVD and worksheet will be mailed to all registrants with a travel confirmation letter approximately 6 weeks prior to class.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
If you have attended the ICI Advanced Gang Investigations up to June 2010, it is recommended that you NOT attend this class, as much of the Advanced curriculum has been transferred over to accommodate the Gang Foundation Specialty Course.  A new Advanced Gang course curriculum has been developed and will include higher level training topics such as: conducting wiretaps, court room testimony and advanced investigative techniques.
